Intro :)

This is a brief guide covering fundamental strategy in Raccoin. I felt like these mechanics weren't clear at the start of the game for me, and I wanted to help anyone who might have the same experience.

Section 1 goes over how coins are scored.

Section 2 goes over combo/spin meter.

Section 3 talks about fundamental strategy.
Coin Scoring

The point scoring of any coin in your cabinet is determined by coin value x scoring rate.

I originally didn't understand scoring rate vs conversion rate so let's start with that.

SCORING RATE:

Scoring rate is a multiplier. If you've played Balatro, this is your "mult." It multiplies the value of any coin that scores. Ignoring chips/prizes/special coins, you can increase this by combos. Scoring coins repeatedly in a short window of time increases your combo meter on the left side of the cabinet:

This will scale with each coin that scores, leading to high multipliers like this:

You can always see your scoring rate at a glance on the back screen in the bottom left:

Scoring rate can be increased by a number of other methods! Chips, special coins, etc. Here's just one example:

Conversion rate is a different thing entirely. Higher conversion rate increases your chance for a copper coin to come out as a silver or gold coin. For example, if you have 50% conversion rate and you shoot out a coin, it's 50/50 if it is copper or silver. 150% conversion rate and it's 50/50 if it is silver or gold.

Now, for coin value.

COIN VALUE:

You can hover over a coin to see the base value as well as the scoring rate and total points when scored:

Coin value can be increased through a variety of methods. Prizes, chips, special coins, etc. For example, each Chummy Coin increases value by +5 for each other Chummy Coin that you have in your cabinet or in your clip. So if you end up with 20 of them, they each have +100 value until they score and leave the board, gradually losing value.

How to effectively score high points is addressed in the strategy fundamentals section.
Combos and Spinning Wheel
Rapidly scoring coins does more than just increase your scoring multiplier, it also spins the bonus wheel:

The bonus wheel has a variety of bonuses and you unlock more as you play the game. The base bonuses are spawn in a good amount of coins, spawn prize balls, or spin wheel #2 which contains the coin tower bonus and prize balls.

The bars that power up the wheel increase with increments of more coins being scored and the combo increases. This meter caps out at x5, any further combo

The wheel only spins when a combo ends. Any further combos will power up the rewards of this spin.

Using this mechanic effectively is covered in the next section.

Please note: at the end of a round after you beat the target score, you can toggle this button below if you want to delay the wheel spin. Often this makes sense, and should probably be the default but it isn't.

Strategic Fundamentals
General gameplay tips:

Raccoin is unique in that your cabinet state does not change between rounds. Because of this, you can set up for the next round before opening the shop tab. You may want to immediately click the shop tab so that you don't overscore a lot of points, or you may want to take some time and set up special coins and prizes.

Many special coins get stronger the more rounds they stay in the cabinet. Some prizes gives tickets or other currency and make sense to use before the shop. In round 14, you may want to use all of your consumables if you intend on buying a lot more from the shop.

Regarding the spin wheel, there are times where it makes sense to go for giant combos and achieve very high scoring rate/big wheel rewards. Other times, you want to play slow and spin the wheel several times to set up prize balls. Spinning weak wheels can often kind of loop. Meaning, if you get a combo to spin a level 1/2 wheel, it often will place prize balls or 20-30 coins. These bonuses often give you another 1/2 wheel.

So with just 20 coins in your ammo, you can keep looping these wheels to slowly crawl to target score. This is a good strategy when you either are very close to winning a round and want to set up the cabinet with a lot of coins/prize balls for the next round, or if you have one very, very high scoring coin that you need to push all the way down the cabinet.

Building a cohesive strategy:
There are a variety of "builds" you can focus on to win your runs! Let's look at the base character, The Manager.

A simple yet effective strategy is to focus on Tickets. The Manager always gains 20% of total ticket value at the end of each round.

An early Year-End Bonus chip as well as using workcoins to reimburse exchange costs, and some red-packet or tickoins can quickly get you thousands of tickets.

You can then cash these in to get giant amount of points. Using the prize Rich Doll on a coin tower, for example, can give you over 100 coins with +500 value. With a scoring rate of x10, that's an easy 500k points.

Alternatively, another way to cash in large tickets is 1/2 coin and balance doll:

So that gives you a lot of value on your coins. To really score big, you also need a high scoring rate. Some chips can give a ton of scoring rate:

Raccoin really requires the player to use each of these systems wisely.

Remember to have fun and experiment! I hope this guide was helpful.
