Introduction

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
※ Hello fellow hunters! ※

This guide will tell you everything about Gold Crowns in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to farm them so you can complete your achievements and put the finishing touches to your hunter profile - hopefully it helps someone.

----------------------------------------⁣⁣⁣⁣--------------------------------------
What are crowns?

In Wilds, most monsters come in different sizes, except for a few special ones. While each monster has a standard size, some can be much bigger or smaller than usual. This is what Crowns represent.

If a monster is noticeably larger or smaller than normal, you’ll get a silver or gold Crown. A silver Crown means the monster’s size is different but not at the extreme. A gold Crown means it’s one of the biggest or smallest of its kind - though not necessarily the absolute biggest or smallest, just very close to it.

Why should I farm crowns?

First of all,
you don't have to farm crowns if you don't want to.
The hunt for crowns is for the collectors and achievement hunters among us.

Collecting crowns unlocks some achievements that we need if we want to get the game to 100%:

Obtained your first miniature crown in the hunting log.
Miniature Crown Collector
Obtained a miniature crown for 10 or more monsters in the hunting log.
Miniature Crown Master
*Obtained a miniature crown for many monsters in the hunting log.

Giant Crown Collector
Obtained a gold crown for 10 or more monsters in the hunting log.
Giant Crown Master
*Obtained a gold crown for many monsters in the hunting log.
A Keen-Eyed Observation
Used the binoculars to spot a gold-crown large monster.
Eastward Wings
Obtained all other achievements.

*"many" means all except:
  • Jin Dahaad
  • Guardian Arkveld
  • Zho Shia

How to farm crowns

In Monster Hunter Wilds, crown farming is much easier compared to previous games.

Why?

In older Monster Hunter games, you could only identify the crowns at the end of a hunt. So you always had to kill or capture a monster first. But Monster Hunter Wilds does things differently now: by redesigning the binoculars. With them, we can now look at monsters and easily see if they have a crown.

How to

It's actually quite simple:
Take your binoculars and visit the first area of the map (for example the Windward Plains) and look at every monster walking around. You will immediately be able to see if it is a crown monster.

Now you have 2 options:

  1. Hunt the monster.
If you have hunted the monster (killed or captured), then you have successfully collected a new crown
  2. Save as Investigation.
You can save the monster as an investigation for a later date.

This way you can immediately look out for other monsters and you are also able to
share your crown monster with your friends.

Monsters saved as investigations always remain the same size!
So your friends can also search for crown monsters and share them with you.

After checking all monsters in all areas, go to a base camp or any pop-up camp and skip some time via the rest menu

It is best to also select Inclemency in the Environment Section to get Apex Monsters (Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra)

Now you can simply repeat the whole process until you have collected all the crowns.

Other Method (Wounded Hollow)
There is another method to collect crowns in the Wounded Hollow by simple restarting the game or relogin every time. But I won't go into that any further, as it is not a legit game mechanic.
