Getting Started & Changes from DS1
• If you lowered your hold button duration, pay attention when skipping small scenes.
-> If the hold suddenly takes longer, it means a real event is about to trigger.
• Generators can shock enemies that come within range with the press of a button.
-> This shock will completely disable an enemy vehicle for a while.
-> The shock will also disable the generator for a short time while it recharges
• Timefall shelters can create a barrier between you and BTs, place one midway through a BT zone such as The Lone Commander to make a safe zone while getting your reputation up with him. BTs will keep attempting to get you through the barrier so dispatch them before the barriers protection temporarily ends. These also repair all cargo containers with a spray automatically (don't confuse this with cargo durability which cannot be repaired by any means)
-> No button press needed to activate barrier
-> Barrier activation is red in color and you can shoot out from inside
-> Barrier has about a 30 second cooldown
-> Your Ring Terminal will audibly let you know it's on cooldown and when the cooldown is finished
• Watchtowers can be accessed remotely from the map (200meter range and requires you to be on foot), place near an outpost to view and mark all enemies before taking the outpost on. It will keep the enemies marked and conveniently include a count of how many enemies remain until you leave the area. Lvl 2 and 3 come with a heatmap that shows you the areas that fellow porters get spotted the most, try and avoid red spots if your aim is stealth!

• You can hide inside Postboxes.
-> You can fabricate equipment and claim materials from Postboxes
• Combine two ladders before placing them to double their length.
-> You must have at least 2 ladders in your inventory & must be combined before placement.
-> You cannot add to pre-existing ladders.
• Floating Carriers now auto-attach when dropped and can now be used with vehicles
• Every 1000 Chiral Crystals will lower the weight of Sams cargo by 1kg
-> You can claim materials from Postboxes and Facilities. Be sure to leave enough if you intend to craft anything at the Facility or Postbox.
-> You can add more than what's necessary when upgrading structures and the game will either store or drop the extras that weren't used.
-> You can combine stacks even higher than the maximums when using the auto-arrange feature - Seems to work with all materials see picture below, 2x 480 max stacks of special materials are combined into 1x 960 stack for example.
-> Place 2x of max size material in your inventory, auto-sort it to combine the stack, then place it back into a locker. This saves even more space! (smaller stack sizes can be combined but seems to require you to be near your max holding capacity)

• Reach Rank 4 with The Bokka to unlock the Porter Backpack accessory.
-> Equip it to see NPC porters on the map.
-> Typically you'll want to reach rank 4 everywhere to unlock most weapons/tools. Ranks 3 and 4 are usually better variants of what the location unlocked previously. Rank 5 at a location usually only yields cosmetics like patches and holograms, sometimes music tracks, and very rarely a new equipment item such as the Silent Sniper Rifle for rank 5 Lone Commander use the route outlined below for safe passage.

There are some unlocks that also require extra conditions that won't become active until you reach a point later in the story such as the Cannon Cooldown APAS which requires 5 stars and Main Order 44: Deliver the Network Stabilizer to North Distribution Center to both be done.
(a more thorough list of reputation rewards can be found below)
• The Artist will give you Omnireflector Boots if you complete a standard order with an S rank or higher.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3691732345
2. Store all boots in locker including equipped boots.
3. Complete the delivery.
4. If it didn't work, make sure there aren't boots on your vehicle or in immediate vicinity.
-> You must not have boots too close, or the game considers them in your inventory
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3691734156
-> Turn on "Emergency Vehicle Charger APAS" to siphon power from yourself.
-> Then switch your APAS settings back afterward.
-> If you run out of power siphoning your own, don't forget you can consume Electrobiotes
-> When powers low, stop boosting to cover more distance.
-> You can increase a vehicles battery life by modifying it at a facility, just note that extra batteries will lower the trikes carry capacity. Armor modules however do not take from carry capacity but lower the top speed.
-> You can pick objects up by hand on a trike while driving, if your full it will automatically add cargo to it's sides.
-> If the hold suddenly takes longer, it means a real event is about to trigger.

Materials
• Since facilities fill over time and have a materials cap, try to empty out materials from each facility in the biggest stacks and place them into private lockers. Private lockers can hold 500 separate items each which massively increases material holding capacity across the board. For convenience, prioritize keeping materials stored on the Magellan.-> You can claim materials from Postboxes and Facilities. Be sure to leave enough if you intend to craft anything at the Facility or Postbox.
-> You can add more than what's necessary when upgrading structures and the game will either store or drop the extras that weren't used.

The Magellan & Deliveries
• Try to avoid storing any deliveries on the Magellan - If you relocate the Magellan all deliveries stored inside it's private locker will receive a penalty towards the delivery. If you fast travel on the ship all carried cargo will also receive this penalty. Instead, pick a location close to the destination to start stockpiling lost cargo (Dont do this with standard orders). Once you have a good amount pull them all out and combine with an order.Progression & Good Early Unlocks
• Reach Rank 3 with Ciudad Nudo del Norte (C1) to unlock the SL Machine Pistol [MP] your earliest silenced gun. Reach rank 4 to get the Big-Bore Handgun [MP] which Shreds enemy armor, and can pierce helmets. (Don't underestimate this gun, even on To The Wilder Difficulty it's arguably the best early game weapon)• Reach Rank 4 with The Bokka to unlock the Porter Backpack accessory.
-> Equip it to see NPC porters on the map.
-> Typically you'll want to reach rank 4 everywhere to unlock most weapons/tools. Ranks 3 and 4 are usually better variants of what the location unlocked previously. Omnireflector Boots (Farming Tip)
1. Save in front of The Artist with a standard order ready to turn in (just in case).2. Store all boots in locker including equipped boots.
3. Complete the delivery.
4. If it didn't work, make sure there aren't boots on your vehicle or in immediate vicinity.
-> You must not have boots too close, or the game considers them in your inventory

Vehicle Tips
• If your vehicle runs out of power:-> Turn on "Emergency Vehicle Charger APAS" to siphon power from yourself.
-> Then switch your APAS settings back afterward.
-> If you run out of power siphoning your own, don't forget you can consume Electrobiotes
-> When powers low, stop boosting to cover more distance.

Live Rounds/Controls & Bug Fixes
“It doesn't matter if you're stealthy, snipey, gun, or knifey”
-another famous Porter
• Guns by default will be holstered if you try to aim/fire too quickly.
Options -> Controller Settings / KBM Settings -> Lower Control Sensitivity (3 or below)
-> Prevents balance inputs from overriding your aim/fire
-> Silent takedowns can be performed without needing to equip your Strand
-> Try to avoid combat while lugging around a Floating Carrier or too close to Vehicles, aiming & firing shares buttons with picking up cargo. There's nothing worse than trying to aim and fire only to realize Sam decided he'd rather pick up things from your carrier or vehicle. (if anyone knows a way around this... please)
-> If you experience extreme lag and stuttering when using the Sniper Rifle or zooming in it's a known bug - Lower your "Level of Detail" down from Very High, to High to fix for now.
• Wanna fire live rounds or accidentally turned this feature on and forgot how to undo? Open your weapon wheel, highlight a weapon, then Hold Left Trigger+Right Trigger+B (xbox) Q+E+SPACE (KBM) until the activation goes around the wheel. Once it clicks into place it will turn orange and you're good to go. Be prepared to dispose of corpses, left unchecked you'll be docked likes (other corpse disposal teams deal with them when you leave the area for long enough) - Main Distribution Facilities offer corpse disposal services. The timeframe on this is very generous and so long as the body is with you or you're around it you have nothing to worry about, the body won't go necro like the first game.
-> This will increase damage dealt to Humans only
-> Just remember this activates it for all applicable weapons, including grenades!
-> It's NOT a 100% chance to kill unless you aim for the head, nearby enemies can render aid to those not killed and place them indoors incase of timefall. You'll know you killed someone if Doll Man mentions it, to tell which ones are dead look for an Orange Ghost Icon above a downed enemy and on the map!
-> Live Fire is pretty safe for these reasons, if you mess up and don't wanna deal with 1 or 2 corpses just remember it's only going to cost you 1000 likes per body. Weird design choice but there you have it.
-> You can also dispose of bodies in tar
-> You can still deal damage to BT's with live fire, so long as the gun already has the capability to damage BT's
• Going to an Outpost or Mule Camp? Chances are you'll be going there more than once. Consider building a Postbox or Generator inside while it's cleared - All built structures can be used as cover and a well placed Postbox could save you from being detected giving you a place to safely store all of your loot until you come back to get it.
-> Mule Outposts/Camps have alert stages which will increase in enemy count, armor, and general difficulty. A bigger camp for example could only have as few as 6 enemies at it's lowest stage, but left unchecked could easily increase in numbers to 15 or more.
-> Pay attention to an enemies Odradek, if they sense something isn't right it will turn yellow. If they are aware of your presence it will be red . Enemies make sounds when they are unsure of what they seen so don't panic when you hear a reaction - depending on what happened they may not even investigate
-> Stealth Hologrenades can be used to hide bodies
-> Combat Power Gloves can be used to silently take down the floating Gazer variant of mechs. It uses Sams battery so keep an eye on your battery levels.
-> Leaving your pack behind somewhere safe offers even more benefits while attacking a camp. Not only will you be harder to detect, you will also increase your melee damage. Before dropping a pack just remember you can store S-Sized equipment on your shoulders and sides. Use these for more weapons before you leave your pack.
-> Spotlights can be shot out, try to use a silenced weapon to remain undetected, if an enemy is near they might hear it.
More Tips & Best Practices
• While getting rep up with the inventor, outline your path with the speedboost signs, speedboosts also give you temporary free power for your vehicles. (10 is the cap, delete them via map when you no longer need)

• Get in the habit of parking vehicles in the circle at facilities and The Magellan when near the vehicle (Hold R KBM) (B xbox) to repair quickly. This will also turn your vehicle around making it ready to go.
• When getting your rep up, consider relocating the Magellan somewhere nearby, when you are away from the area the Magellan will hover in the area giving you a huge indicator of where a facility is.
• Postboxes tend to be everywhere, if you leave them alone long enough you can claim every piece of equipment inside then recycle them on the spot refilling the postboxes for even more materials to claim.
• The colored lights on Sam's suite and on vehicles represents your current battery condition, Blue is overcharge & fine, green is from being somewhere that your battery doesn't drain, yellow is more of a caution so start considering where the next generator may be. Red, well you know.. means you're about to be walking unless you siphon from your suite or remembered to bring a PCC.
• Wondering about the hammer icon on a structure? It means the structure was damaged by a natural disaster indicating it might not be a good place to build. (Don't confuse with yellow triangle that represents low durability) repairing structures that suffered natural disaster related damage are worth more likes than the regular ones so seek those that have both icons.
• While holding your pack with both hands hold jump while traversing uneven terrain, Sam will sort of skip around quickly at the cost of stamina. This can be done anywhere and while sprinting. You can also choose the direction by only holding down one side of your pack for more precise movements. If you hold with both hands and jump while standing still, you will hop backwards. Use this to dodge something unexpected, the animation is extremely fast and spamable so long as your not holding forward. Not even your forward momentum will stop you unless you're sprinting.
• One of the most common misconceptions is that repairing cargo before a turn in helps with rank, it doesn't. Cargo Durability and Container Durability are two different things, container durability helps protect the cargo from exposure so it is important to maintain, it just has no impact on your rewards when turning in. Cargo durability on the other hand matters most.
• Lost Cargo has no delivery time related gains, instead of turning one in consider picking a storage locker somewhere to stockpile until you have enough. I personally prefer somewhere near a road in the middle of the map to store all lost cargo
• Save before accepting a delivery especially on "To The Wilder" difficulty, one boulder you didn't see while on a trike can take over half of your cargos durability and kill your rank even if the container protecting it is at 100%
• Auto-Arrange faster bypassing the inventory screen by using cargo options hotkey (Up on D-pad, 4 on KBM) the option you want is top right of the radial shortcut.
• Need reputation with a specific location? Use your Ring Terminal->Select Orders->Search
-> Remember that reputation gains are only at delivery points NOT where you accept the order.
-> Search the contents of a Postbox or Facilities Private Locker via the Ring Terminal map screen. This will also show you everything you can collect from the shared locker.
• Any cargo can be used as a weapon, Sam can also throw cargo at enemies by holding cargo in one of his hands, pressing the melee attack button, then releasing mid swing. Practice in VR for this powerful advantage.
• Wanna trade with an NPC porter? Drop cargo onto the ground, then pick it up and hold in your hand and drop. Sometimes dropping is enough, pay attention to the NPC's Odradek, it will react when they are about to pick it up.
• If an order is about to send you to a mule camp/outpost but only involves retrieving cargo inside their postboxes, consider clearing the camp prior to accepting the order to return to a cleared camp and obtain a higher rank easier. However, if the order requires dealing with the enemies they will all respawn.
• Kill any golden creatures you come across for a huge supply of Chiral Crystals.
• You can clear a BT Gazer zone by allowing a Gazer to summon Catchers to drag you then kill the boss. Watchers however do NOT work this way. If a Watcher catches you, he will turn into a huge variant of the Catcher that will kill you if you don't fight it off or run away.
• Throw a Hematic Grenade and shoot through the cloud of blood to significantly increase damage dealt to a BT
• Resting in your Private Room will refill ammunition, Grenades however can not be refilled.
• If a structure is low on durability, consider upgrading it to a higher rank if possible. This will fully repair it.
• You can take all your cargo off before combat, seek a Timefall Shelter to store cargo and trike before attacking an outpost, if Timefall isn't a factor hide it somewhere because if found, the enemy will go after it.
• You can tie down your pack with your Strand to increase cargo stability, just set your pack down and equip the Strand to see a "Tie Down" option appear
-> You can also do this to Floating Carriers
-> Floating Carriers can be used with ladders so long as the ladder isn't too vertical. You'll want to slow yourself down to allow time for the carrier to catch up or it will snap.

• Sams different outfits provide different bonuses, some help with Sams battery capacity, others with camouflage reducing the range Sam can be seen by enemies. Read their descriptions to find one that suits the task at hand.

Cryptobiote Variants
Necrobiotes
-> Chances are you skipped over Necrobiotes and didn't know it.
-> Though rare, these elusive creatures are very beneficial for hiding from BT's
-> You can find some in the area marked out above, they look similar to Electrobiote spawns but are slightly smaller. When you come across one, be quick. They will burrow if they sense danger.
Chlorobiotes
-> These come in many shapes and sizes
-> Bigger spawns provide more Chlorobiotes
-> They don't appear to burrow like the Necrobiote variant
-> The earliest location to find a Chlorobiote is right next to The Animal Shelter (see images above)
• Guideposts attract each variant of Cryptobiote at night.
-> Red for regular, Purple for Necro, Green for Chloro, and blue for Electro. Change their colors at night to collect extras of the kind you like.
Example of Chlorobiotes attracted to a green guidepost
-> They won't come out during rain or Timefall
-> You may need to discover a variant before they will spawn on guideposts.
-> To tell if a Guidepost has any, you can see them flying around the light from a distance. They tend to circle the pole midway up.
Chiral Crystal Farming Locations
Near The Animal Shelter
-> Try to hunt them at night for better visibility.
Near the Architect
-> Look for the tar, they can be found all around these crevices. Try to pick a high spot and throw EX grenades from there.
Tips for Farming
• EX Grenades are best, the range that spooks nearby Golden Creatures is significantly reduced compared to other grenades. Also, the EX Grenade has a nice radius for killing groups. It's rare for any of them to break up and scatter using EX Grenades but it's still possible.
-> If you kill several Golden Creatures without picking up any of the Chiral Crystal Clusters, only 20 of them will show. However, as you grab the oldest ones, the rest will start spawning in the order they were dropped.
-> Every Golden Creature drops 8 clusters, ranging from 50-125 Chiral Crystals, give or take.
Strand Contracts & Finding Friends
• Through some testing we found out deleting other players structures and leaving the area would generate one copy of whatever you destroyed nearby. You can do this to try and get a strand contract friend's structure to spawn in areas you already added to the chiral network (assuming you know where a friend put it) An example would be deleting a bridge, leaving the area, wait for a server sync - then go back.
-> The server seems to sync every 5 minutes so keep this in mind if you're trying the delete/leave/return method to load in a friends structure.
-> Signs and aid requests seem to be the easiest to find since these are always changing, structures however are persistent and will stay until they either erode or you delete them. (Don't forget to like the aid-requests for extra reputation)
-> Make a habit of deleting structures you will never use, bridges that don't help you cross anything are of little use. Ladders that don't reach the ground and cause you to fall would be another.
-> Level 2 structures have a higher chance of spawning in a friends world.
-> Reputation Star Ranks increase the odds & number of things you can see from that person
-> Use APAS enhancements to further increase the amount of structures you can see
-> You won't see anything populate your world that you haven't first unlocked
-> For Aid-Requests you can send 5 items (maybe even more) but whoever is on the receiving end will only get 3.
-> If you send your friend something they haven't gained access to yet, they will receive a random item of whichever category you sent.
-> Don't send any combined XL stacks, we tried to send 3 of the 960 stacks of special alloy, the receiving end only got 3 stacks of 480 so stick to the sizes you can pull from facilities.
-> If your looking for a particular friend, put some aid requests in hard to reach places and let your friend know where to look. The average porter won't waste a ladder to climb a roof to fill (mostly thanks to the Auto-Aid Request APAS spam) which in turn gives your friend more time to find. This method helped us rank up and find our other things much easier.

-> The amount of likes you get for answering someones aid request depends upon the total cost in materials used to craft the items
-> Upgrading/Repairing a friends structure and answering aid requests is the quickest way to rank up with friends.
-> Though rare, it is possible for friends structures to spawn in areas already connected to the network.
Our working theory is that the asynchronous multiplayer works on a hidden grid-like system, each cell in the grid is allotted a fixed number of each type of structure to help spread everything evenly across the world (if you know other things about how the asynchronous multiplayer works I'd love to hear your findings)
